There are numerous glaciers surrounding the Yakutat area. The Malaspina Glacier, located across Yakutat Bay, is larger than the state of Rhode Island. It stretches along the Gulf Coast for about 50 miles and reaches inland about 30 miles. It is visible on a clear day from Ocean Cape.
The Yakutat Glacier is one of the largest glaciers in the forelands and it feeds into Harlequin Lake and forms the headwaters of Dangerous River. This lake, river, and glacier are accessible via Forest Highway 10.
The best known glacier in the Yakutat area is Hubbard Glacier, shown here.

Yakutat Bay Lodge
We have five units available. Two of them accommodate six people comfortably. The others accommodate five, four and two, respectively. Two of the larger units are connected with a door providing the
possibility of a massive unit accommodating up to 9 people with 5 bedrooms, two kitchens and 3 1/2
baths. Our rate schedule is based on the unit rather than per person. See our rate page for details.
We also provide laundry service. For a minimal fee our staff will do your laundry for you while you are out fishing and enjoying the area. We leave the boat and vehicle renting to the experts. We will provide all the contacts you'll need to secure a vehicle, boat, river guide, charter operator, air taxi, and fishing licenses.
The Yakutat Bay Lodge is dedicated to providing the best accommodations available for small groups who wish to plan and direct their own experience.
We put all our efforts into making sure our facility meets your needs. As part of that effort the entire facility was completely renovated in 2005. The renovation project has made each unit completely self contained. All of our condo-style units now have complete kitchens (including utensils, dishes, and pots & pans). Lounging areas are provided with couches, chairs, satellite TV, and telephones.
All guests have full use of the main lodge war room a lounging area with large screen satellite
TV, Video/DVD player with a complete library of local and Alaskan videos. Freezer space to hold your catch is provided, as is a spacious fish packing station. We
do ask that you clean your catch at the river or harbor and only use the fish packing station to portion and box your fish.
